Dawn Ward grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. She went to Woodlawn High School. After high school, she studied chemistry at Lincoln University. She earned her first university degree, a Bachelor of Arts (BA), in 1995.

Her Career Path

After college, Ward worked in different jobs. She used her chemistry skills in various companies. She also spent time as a public school teacher. Later, she decided to go back to school. She studied at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. In 2009, she earned her Ph.D. This is a very high degree in science.

Today, Professor Ward leads a research team at Stevenson University. Her team works on important medical research. They are trying to find new ways to stop diseases. They study special chemicals that could help fight illnesses like Hepatitis C. This research helps create new medicines.

Helping the Community

Dawn Ward also cares about helping others. She works to encourage more young people of color to study science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
