Dean Joseph Norris (born April 8, 1963) is an American actor. He is famous for playing Hank Schrader in the TV show Breaking Bad. He also played James "Big Jim" Rennie in Under the Dome. Another well-known role was Clay "Uncle Daddy" Husser in Claws. Dean Norris has acted in more than 150 movies and TV shows.

He has appeared in many films. Some of these include Lethal Weapon 2 (1989) and Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). He was also in Little Miss Sunshine (2006) and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019).

Early life and education

Dean Joseph Norris was born in South Bend, Indiana. His family has roots in Hungary. He finished Clay High School in 1981. He was the top student in his class.

While in high school, he was part of a comedy show. It was called Beyond Our Control. This show was made by students and shown on TV. In 1985, he graduated from Harvard College. He studied Social Studies there. He also got a diploma from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1987.

Career

Norris starred in the TV show Tremors: The Series. He also appeared in the movie Without Limits. He has been a guest star on many TV shows. These include NYPD Blue, The X-Files, and Lost.

From 2008 to 2013, he played Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent Hank Schrader. This was in the popular show Breaking Bad. People really liked his acting in this role.

Norris also starred in the CBS show Under the Dome. He played James "Big Jim" Rennie. This character was a town leader. The town was cut off from the rest of the world. From 2017 to 2022, he played Clay "Uncle Daddy" Husser. This was in the TNT series Claws.

In 2020, he played Agent Hank Schrader again. This was in Better Call Saul, a show that takes place before Breaking Bad. He was also cast in a main role for the CBS comedy show United States of Al.

Personal life

Dean Norris and his wife, Bridget, have five children. They live in Temecula, California. In 2018, they opened the Norris Performing Arts Center. It is in Murrieta.

Norris is a big fan of his hometown sports team. They are the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In 2019, he helped launch Schraderbräu. This is a real-life version of the beer his character Hank Schrader brewed in Breaking Bad. In 2022, Dean and Bridget Norris bought The Swing Inn Cafe. It is a well-known restaurant in Old Town, Temecula.

Norris is a member of the Democratic Party. He has spoken about his political views. He attended the 2016 and 2024 Democratic National Conventions.
