Winning a Grand Slam Title
In 2008, Deanna joined the team of Michelle Englot. This team achieved a major victory by winning the 2008 Casinos of Winnipeg Classic. This was Deanna's only "Grand Slam" title, which is a very important win in curling. They also made it to the quarterfinals at another event, the 2008 Wayden Transportation Ladies Classic.
Leading Her Own Team
After playing with other teams, Deanna Doig became a skip (the team leader) for her own team in 2011. She played in the 2012 Colonial Square Ladies Classic, which was her first time skipping a team in a Grand Slam event.
Joining Team Barker
In 2013, Deanna joined a new team led by Penny Barker. They had some good results, reaching the quarterfinals at the 2013 Colonial Square Ladies Classic. They also won two smaller events in Saskatchewan, which helped them qualify for the 2015 Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Winning the Saskatchewan Scotties
The biggest win for Team Barker, with Deanna Doig, came in 2017. They won the 2017 Saskatchewan Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Even though they were not expected to win, they played very well. They won a tiebreaker game and then three playoff games in a row to become champions. They beat strong teams like Stefanie Lawton and Robyn Silvernagle in exciting games.
This win meant they got to play in the 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, which is the national championship for women's curling in Canada. It was their first time at this big event.
Later Seasons with Team Barker
After their big win, Team Barker had a strong start to the 2017–18 season. They won the DeKalb Superspiel and were runners-up at another event. They also won two more events on the Saskatchewan Curling Tour. They continued to play well in the following seasons, qualifying for the Saskatchewan Scotties championships in 2019 and 2020.
