Néstor Kirchner was an important leader in Argentina. He served as the President of Argentina, which is like the head of the country. He was also the first Secretary General of the Union of South American Nations, a group that helps South American countries work together.

Néstor Kirchner passed away on 27 October 2010, at the age of 60. His wife, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, who was also the President of Argentina at the time, was with him. Many people expected him to run for president again in 2011.

Public Farewell at Casa Rosada
