Deborah Ann "Debbi" Morgan (born September 20) is an American actress. She has appeared in many movies and TV shows. Debbi Morgan is perhaps best known for playing Angie Baxter–Hubbard on the TV show All My Children.
In 1989, Debbi Morgan made history. She was the first African American actress to win a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. This award was for her role as Angie. She is also known for playing the Seer in the TV series Charmed. In movies, her role as Mozelle Batiste-Delacroix in Eve's Bayou (1997) was highly praised. For this, she won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female. More recently, she played Estelle Green in the crime drama Power and its spin-off Power Book II: Ghost. She also co-starred in the TV drama Our Kind of People.

Early life and beginnings
Debbi Morgan was born in Dunn, North Carolina. Her mother, Lora, was a teacher, and her father, George Morgan Jr., was a butcher. She has a younger sister named Terry. When Debbi was a child, her family moved to the Bronx, New York. Her father passed away in 1975. Debbi Morgan finished high school at Aquinas High School.
Career highlights
Debbi Morgan's first movie role was in Monkey Hustle in 1976. She played a character named Vi. She also had early roles on TV shows like What's Happening!! and Good Times. In 1979, she received praise for her role as Elizabeth Harvey in the miniseries Roots: The Next Generations.
Playing Angie Baxter-Hubbard
Her most famous role began in 1982. She played Angie Baxter Hubbard on the soap opera All My Children. She played this role until 1990. Many Black viewers across America loved her portrayal of Angie. Angie and her boyfriend, Jesse Hubbard (Darnell Williams), became a very popular couple on daytime TV. They were the first African-American "supercouple" on soap operas. In 1989, Morgan won a Daytime Emmy Award for her acting as Angie. She and Darnell Williams also hosted a music video show called New York Hot Tracks in the 1980s.
Moving to other shows
After leaving All My Children, Morgan joined the NBC soap opera Generations. She then returned to play Angie Hubbard on ABC's Loving in 1993. In 1995, she continued playing Angie on The City. This made her one of the few actors to play the same character on three different soap operas. From 1997 to 1998, she also played Dr. Ellen Burgess on Port Charles. During the 1980s and 1990s, many of her soap opera roles were as successful doctors. This made her a symbol of what Black women could achieve.
Film and prime-time roles
Debbi Morgan received great reviews for her role as Mozelle Batiste Delacroix in the movie Eve's Bayou (1997). She played a character who could see the future. For this role, she won awards from the Chicago Film Critics Association and the Independent Spirit Award. She also received nominations for other awards. After this, she took on more film roles. These included She's All That (1999), The Hurricane (1999), Love & Basketball (2000), and Coach Carter (2005). On television, she appeared in shows like The Practice, Strong Medicine, and Boston Public.
From 2002 to 2003, Morgan starred in the drama series For the People. She also played the role of the Seer in the fourth and fifth seasons of Charmed. In January 2008, Debbi Morgan and Darnell Williams returned to All My Children. She was nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 2009 and 2011. When All My Children ended in 2011, Morgan joined the cast of The Young and the Restless. In 2013, she appeared in the online version of All My Children, again playing Angie Hubbard.
In November 2013, Morgan was cast in the drama series Power. She also appeared in TV movies like Royal Family Thanksgiving and Royal Family Christmas in 2015. Morgan played Toni Braxton's mother in the TV movie Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart. In 2017, she was in the Marvel miniseries The Defenders. She also had a role in the BET series The Quad in 2018. In 2019, she appeared in the Netflix movie Sextuplets. She starred with Kelly Rowland in the Merry Liddle Christmas TV movies. In 2021, she joined the cast of Our Kind of People. In 2023, she played Keyshia Cole's mother in the TV movie Keyshia Cole: This is My Story. Critics praised her performance. Morgan was later cast in the drama film Divorce in the Black.
Personal life
Debbi Morgan has been married several times. She has been married to Jeffrey Winston since June 2009. She does not have any children.
