Who is Declan Sinnott?
Declan Sinnott grew up in Wexford town in Ireland. His father was an optician and jeweller there. In the late 1960s, Declan moved to Dublin to pursue his passion for music.
Early Life and Music Beginnings
Around 1970, Declan joined a group called Tara Telephone. This group combined poetry with music. Declan composed songs, sang, and played the guitar for them. Later, he and Eamon Carr, a poet and percussionist, left Tara Telephone. They decided to form a new band called Horslips. This band played a type of music known as Celtic Rock. Declan left Horslips in 1972, before they recorded their first album.
Joining Famous Bands
In the 1980s, Declan Sinnott became a member of another popular band called Moving Hearts. After his time with Moving Hearts, he started focusing on producing music for other artists. He worked with well-known singers like Mary Black and her sister Frances Black. Declan worked with Mary Black for 13 years. During this time, they released six albums together. He also toured all over the world with her, sharing his musical talent.
Working with Christy Moore
Declan Sinnott has worked with the famous Irish singer Christy Moore for over 30 years. He played on Christy Moore's album Ride On in 1984. Today, Declan still plays and tours with Christy Moore. In 2015, Declan released his second solo album, Window On The World.
Family Life
Declan Sinnott married Kathy Sinnott (née Kelly) when he was 22 years old. They had nine children together. Sadly, one of their children, Kevin Sinnott, passed away in 2009.
