Dedrick Dwayne Gobert (born November 25, 1971 – died November 19, 1994) was an American actor. He was best known for his role as Dooky in the 1991 movie Boyz n the Hood.
Dedrick Gobert's Acting Career
Dedrick Gobert started his acting career in 1991. His first movie was Boyz n the Hood, directed by John Singleton. In the film, he played a character named Dooky. Dooky was a friend of the character Darrin "Doughboy" Baker, played by Ice Cube.
One special thing about Dooky was that he always had a pacifier with him. This made his character very memorable. Some people believe that Dooky's pacifier helped start a trend. Many teenagers and young adults in the early 1990s began wearing pacifiers.
Dedrick Gobert also acted in two other movies directed by John Singleton. These were Poetic Justice in 1993 and Higher Learning in 1995. Sadly, Higher Learning was released after he passed away.

Dedrick Gobert passed away on November 19, 1994. This was just six days before his 23rd birthday. He was involved in a serious incident in Mira Loma, California.
During this event, Dedrick Gobert was shot. His friend, Ignacio Hernandez, was also shot and passed away while trying to protect Dedrick. Dedrick's girlfriend, Jenny Hyon, was also injured but survived.
After the incident, police investigated what happened. A person named Sonny Enraca was arrested. He was found responsible for the shootings.
