The community of Deep Run was officially made a village between 1925 and 1928. Mr. Johnny Blizzard was the mayor during that time. For a while, people called the town "Red Town." This was because many houses had bright red tin roofs.
Deep Run used to be a very busy place. But in the 1970s, its official village status was removed. This happened because it didn't meet the rules for being a town anymore.

The main road that goes through the area is North Carolina Highway 11 Bypass. Deep Run is a quiet place.
