Deerfield Beach Island, often called DBI, is a long, narrow island located off the eastern coast of Florida, United States. It sits next to the mainland cities of Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach. This special island is about 5.5 miles long. It is divided into three different towns and spans across two counties.

What is Deerfield Beach Island?

Deerfield Beach Island stretches from Lake Boca and Boca Inlet in the north. It goes all the way through Deerfield Beach. The island ends at the Hillsboro Inlet and its famous lighthouse in the south. It's a unique place because different parts of the island belong to different cities and counties.

The Northern Part: Boca Raton

The northern end of Deerfield Beach Island is part of the city of Boca Raton. This section is in Palm Beach County. About 3,000 homes are located here. You can also find several fun parks for recreation. Two drawbridges connect this part of the island to the mainland.

The Middle Part: Deerfield Beach

The middle section of the island belongs to Deerfield Beach. This area is located in Broward County. Around 2,000 homes are in this part. It's known for its public beaches. The famous Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier is also here. Many restaurants and shops offer great places to visit. One drawbridge, on Hillsboro Boulevard, links this area to the mainland.

The Southern Part: Hillsboro Beach

The southern tip of Deerfield Beach Island is the town of Hillsboro Beach. This town is also in Broward County. About 3,000 homes are found here. This area includes the beautiful Hillsboro Mile. You can also see the Hillsboro Inlet and the historic Hillsboro Club. The Hillsboro Lighthouse stands tall at the very end. Some of the most expensive beach homes in the U.S. are located in this area.

Recognizing Deerfield Beach Island

This monument was put up by the City of Deerfield Beach and the Community Redevelopment Agency on April 30, 2018.

On April 30, 2018, something special happened. The City of Deerfield Beach worked with the Community Redevelopment Agency. They put up a monument on the southeast corner of the Hillsboro Bridge. This monument officially recognized the part of the island that is Deerfield Beach. It also created the "Deerfield Beach Island District." This helps people know more about this unique area.
