Delaware City was once a small town in Leavenworth County, Kansas, United States. Today, it is known as a ghost town, which means it's a place where most or all people have left, and it's no longer an active community.

History

Delaware City was officially planned and mapped out in 1854. This process is called "platting." It's how new towns are laid out with streets and building lots.

A post office was opened in Delaware City in 1856. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. However, the post office eventually closed down in 1878. This often happens when a town's population shrinks or people move away.

The town slowly faded away, becoming the ghost town it is today.
