Deli de Luca facts for kids
Deli de Luca is a popular chain of stores in Norway. It's a mix between a convenience store and a delicatessen, which means it sells everyday items but also special, tasty foods. The company started in 2003.
You can find Deli de Luca stores in many Norwegian cities. For example, there are many in Oslo, and also in Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim, Kristiansand, Skien, and Mo i Rana. A cool thing about many of these stores is that they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
How Deli de Luca Started
Deli de Luca was founded in 2003 by five friends: Adriano Capoferro, Thor Johansen, Geir Syversen, Terje Bergh, and Vesna Milkovic. Before starting Deli de Luca, these five people worked together at another convenience store chain called 7-Eleven.
They felt that their old workplace wasn't very flexible or open to new ideas. So, they decided to create their own store. They wanted to combine the quick service of a convenience store with the special food items you find in a delicatessen. With some financial help from others, they launched Deli de Luca.
Ownership and Growth
In 2006, a larger Norwegian company called NorgesGruppen bought most of Deli de Luca. NorgesGruppen is a big player in the food retail business in Norway.
When NorgesGruppen buys smaller companies like Deli de Luca, they often let them keep their unique brand and how they run their stores. However, NorgesGruppen helps them by using its large buying power. This means Deli de Luca can get products at better prices, which helps the business grow and become more successful.
