Delia Matache (born on February 7, 1982), known simply as Delia, is a famous Romanian singer and TV star. She was once part of a pop group called N&D from 1999 to 2003. As a solo artist, Delia has become one of Romania's most successful singers. She has released many popular songs that have topped the music charts.

Delia's Early Life and Music Journey

Delia Matache was born in Bucharest, Romania. She went to the Dinu Lipatti music high school. There, she studied piano and flute for five years. Delia has a brother named Eduard and a sister named Oana. Her mother's name is Gina.

Delia's music career began in 1999 when she was in 11th grade. A musician named Nick (Nicolae Marin) asked her to join a music duo called N&D. They released three albums and several songs together. One of their songs, "Nu e vina mea" ("It Is Not My Fault"), became a number-one hit in Romania in 2001. The group N&D broke up in 2002.

Starting a Solo Career

In 2003, Delia started her solo music career. She released her first solo song, "Parfum de fericire" ("Perfume of Happiness"). This song was very popular in Romania, reaching number four on the music charts. Her first solo album, also called Parfum de fericire, came out that same year.

Delia tried to represent Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. She had two songs for the competition: "Baby" and "Gândești prea High" ("You Think Too High"). In June 2006, she released her second album, Listen Up!. This album included the song "Listen Up," which featured another artist named Matteo.

In 2008, Delia joined a dance competition show called Dansez pentru tine. This show is Romania's version of Dancing With the Stars. She danced with her partner, Ionuț Pavel. In 2009, Delia also performed at the Golden Stag Festival. She sang "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor.

Hit Songs and TV Shows

In 2014, Delia released two songs that became her first solo number-one hits in Romania. These songs were "Ipotecat" ("Mortgaged") and "Pe aripi de vânt" ("On Wind's Wings"). Both songs topped the Airplay 100 chart.

She continued her success with another number-one hit in 2015, "Cum ne noi" ("How We Us"). This song was a collaboration with Carla's Dreams. From 2015 to 2017, Delia released many songs that reached the top ten. These included "Da, mamă" ("Yes, Mother"; 2015), "Gura ta" ("Your Mouth"; 2016), and "Rămâi cu bine" ("All the Best"; 2017). The song "Rămâi cu bine" is from her third solo album, 7, which was released in 2020. Her 2020 song "Ne vedem noi" ("We'll See Each Other") with Smiley also became a number-one hit.

Delia has been a judge on the TV show X Factor România since 2012. She has been a judge for many seasons. Since 2016, she has also been a judge on the comedy show iUmor.

In 2016 and 2019, Delia held big concerts called Deliria and Acadelia at Sala Palatului. At these concerts, she performed new songs that mixed pop rock and trap music styles. Delia supports people who have psoriasis (a skin condition) and the LGBT community. Her 2018 song "Acadele" talks about a vote in Romania regarding the definition of a family.

Delia has also lent her voice to animated movies. She was chosen to voice Vexy in the movie Smurfs 2. She also voiced Miss Hannigan in the movie Annie.
