Delman L. Coates, born on January 13, 1973, is an American Baptist minister. He leads the Mt. Ennon Baptist Church, a very large church in Clinton, Maryland. He has been the senior pastor there since 2004.
Coates also started the Our Money Campaign in May 2019. This campaign works for economic fairness. He also founded the Black Church Center for Justice & Equality. He is a board member of the National Action Network, which is a civil rights organization.

Delman L. Coates was born in Richmond, Virginia, on January 13, 1973. He has one sister. He went to college and studied religion.
College and University Studies
Coates earned his first degree, a Bachelor of Arts, from Morehouse College in 1995. He then continued his studies at Harvard Divinity School, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1998. Later, he attended Columbia University. He received a Master of Philosophy in Religion in 2002 and a Ph.D. in New Testament and Early Christianity in 2006.
Ministry Work
In 2004, Delman Coates became the senior pastor of Mt. Ennon Baptist Church. This church is a large and active community located in Clinton, Maryland.
Church Growth and Community Views
In 2012, Coates shared his views on fairness and equality for all people. After this, the church actually grew a lot, with 1,000 new members joining that year, which was a record! Only a few people left the church because of his views.

Delman Coates has also been involved in politics. In 2014, Maryland House of Delegates member Heather Mizeur chose Coates as her running mate. They ran together in the race for governor of Maryland.
