Dennet Ernest Ayling was a very talented cricket player from Argentina. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on June 8, 1906. He passed away in Los Cocos, Argentina, on December 18, 1987. Dennet played a special kind of cricket called first-class cricket. He even played for the Argentina cricket team in international matches. Who Was Dennet Ayling?

Dennet Ayling was a right-handed batsman. This means he held the bat with his right hand. He was also a right-arm offbreak bowler. This is a type of bowler who spins the ball with their fingers. Even though he didn't play many big matches, his skills showed he was one of Argentina's best cricketers ever.

Playing for South America

In 1932, Dennet Ayling went on a cricket tour to England. He was part of the South American team. During this tour, he played six important matches. He scored 342 runs in these matches. His average score was 42 runs per game, which is very good!

Top Performances

Dennet also took 33 wickets during the tour. This means he got 33 opposing batsmen out. He did this while only giving away about 16 runs for each wicket. This shows he was great at both batting and bowling.

His best batting score was 86 runs. He scored this without being out in a match against a team called Sir Julien Cahn's XI. In another match, against Oxford University, he was amazing. He took 10 wickets in total across both of Oxford's turns at batting. He only gave away 87 runs for those 10 wickets.

Cricket in Argentina

Back in Argentina, Dennet Ayling played cricket for 20 years. He played at a very high level in local games. Cricket was a family sport for the Aylings. Dennet had three brothers: Cyril, Cecil, and Eric. All of them also played cricket for Argentina.
