After Winterthur, Dennis moved to the youth academy of FC Basel. In 2008, he played for their Under-18 team. They won the cup at the Under-18 level. In the final game, Basel won 2–1 against Team-Luzern-Kriens.
In the 2008–09 season, Dennis moved up to Basel's Under-21 team. This team played in the third tier of Swiss football. They became champions of their division. He played for them for a while longer. Then, he was loaned out to FC Biel-Bienne, a team in the second tier. This was for the second half of the 2009–10 season.
Playing for FC Lugano
Before the 2010–11 season, Dennis was loaned to FC Lugano, another team in the second tier. He played in 25 league games for them. He also played in two Cup games.

Playing in Major League Soccer (MLS)
Montreal Impact

D.C. United offered him a two-year contract. But Dennis decided to return to Switzerland. He missed his home and family.
Back to Switzerland with Winterthur
