The last time this position was created was after some big political negotiations in 2008. These talks helped different political groups work together. Because of this agreement, two people were chosen as Deputy Prime Ministers in 2008. They were Arthur Mutambara from one part of the MDC party, and Thokozani Khuphe from the part of the MDC led by the Prime Minister, Morgan Tsvangirai.

Why Was the Role Created?
The position of Deputy Prime Minister was created for different reasons at different times. In 1980, when Zimbabwe became independent, it was part of the new government structure. Later, in 2009, it was brought back as part of a special agreement. This agreement aimed to bring peace and stability after a difficult election period. Having two Deputy Prime Ministers helped different political parties share power and work together for the country's future.
When Did the Role End?
The role of Deputy Prime Minister has not always been part of Zimbabwe's government. It ended in 1987 when the country changed its constitution. It was then brought back in 2009 as part of the power-sharing deal. However, this role ended again in 2013 after new elections were held and a new government was formed.
