Deva or Dev are important terms in the Hindu religion. These words are used to describe the divine, often meaning "The Almighty" or "God."

What are Deva?

In Hinduism, a Deva is a heavenly being or a god. The word "Deva" comes from an ancient language called Sanskrit. It means "divine," "heavenly," or "anything of excellence." Devas are often seen as powerful beings who help keep the universe in balance. They are worshipped and respected by Hindu people.

How Many Deva Are There?

Hindu people believe there are many forms of the divine. Some ancient texts mention 330 million Deva or gods. This large number does not mean there are literally 330 million separate gods. Instead, it shows that the divine can appear in countless ways. It also means that the divine is present everywhere and in everything. Each Deva represents a different aspect or power of the one ultimate reality, known as Brahman.
