Devil's Slide (Utah) facts for kids
Devil's Slide is a really cool natural rock formation. It's found near the border of Wyoming in northern Utah. You can see it in Weber Canyon, close to a small town called Croydon. This area is part of Morgan County, Utah, in the United States.
This unique slide is made of two parallel layers of limestone. These layers have been pushed up so they stand straight up. They stick out about 40 feet (12 m) from the side of the mountain. The softer rock between these hard layers has worn away over time. This has created a channel about 8 feet (2.4 m) wide. This channel runs for hundreds of feet down the mountain.
Seeing Devil's Slide
You can easily spot Devil's Slide from I-84. This highway runs right past the formation. The Weber River flows between the rocks and the freeway. There are special parking spots on both sides of the highway. These spots let you stop safely and get a great view of the slide.
