Meet the Team: Saving the Galaxy's Bugs

The story of Dex Hamilton: Alien Entomologist takes place in the year 3000. Dex Hamilton is a young scientist who studies insects. He's called into action when alien insects cause problems between people and nature. Dex and his team travel the galaxy to observe and capture these strange bugs.

Meanwhile, a bad guy is creating super bugs. These powerful creatures are designed to destroy planets! Dex and his friends must stop him.

Main Characters

  • Dex Hamilton (Dwayne Hill) – Dex is the main character. He's a very smart alien scientist who loves insects. He runs a special place called The Habitat. Here, he and his team study all the different bugs they find. Dex has an Australian accent.
  • Zap Monogan (Lyon Smith) – Zap is part human and part insect. Dex found him a few months before the series began. Zap is usually very relaxed, but he gets serious when there's danger. He's the strongest member of the team. He can even grow insect wings to fly! Zap is also the team's pilot. He has a secret past, but he always helps his friends.
  • Jenny 10 (Stephanie Anne Mills) – Jenny 10 is Dex's mechanic at The Habitat. She takes care of the insect homes and builds weapons for the team. Jenny 10 is super intelligent. She was created as part of a special project. She works hard to keep The Habitat running smoothly.
  • Tung (Carter Hayden) – Tung is a human and frog mix from another planet. He has some funny habits, especially with food! Tung can jump very far and climb walls easily. He also has a super long tongue, which is how he got his nickname. Sometimes he gets into trouble for trying to eat the insects they're supposed to be studying!

The Habitat: A Home for Alien Insects

The Habitat is a huge, high-tech building. It's where Dex keeps all the insects he studies. The Mayor of Metropolis helped pay for it. The Habitat has special rooms that copy the insects' natural homes. Jenny 10 uses amazing technology to manage everything. This includes powerful satellite dishes.

Beyond the Series: Film and Game

March Entertainment also released a movie called Dex Hamilton: Fire and Ice. This film came out in late 2009. It was a prequel, meaning it told a story that happened before the TV series. The movie was shown on CBC before the series started airing there.

Dex Hamilton Game

In 2010, March Entertainment released an online game called Dex Hamilton's Bug Quest. It was a Flash-based game where players could join the show's characters on adventures. You could play the game on the CBC website and the show's official site.
