Diane Forsythe is a politician from the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). She is a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for the area of South Down. She has held this role since 2022.

Early Elections
Diane Forsythe first tried to become a Member of Parliament (MP) in the South Down area. This was during the UK general election in 2017. She finished in third place in that election.
Becoming an MLA
In May 2022, Diane Forsythe was elected as a new MLA for the South Down area. She received many votes and was officially elected after several counts. This was a big moment because she became the first woman from a unionist party to represent this area in the Assembly.
