The Dickson Works, also known as the Stacor Building, is a really old factory building. You can find it in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. It was built around 1856. This building has a long history in Scranton.

It's a large, three-story building made of brick. It measures about 100 feet wide and 300 feet long. A tall tower, about 100 feet high, stands out. The roof has a special double shape with windows at the top. These windows let in lots of light.

What Was It Used For?

The Dickson Works was once a busy shop. Workers there repaired and built machines for mines. They also made large boilers. These were important for the coal mining industry in the area.

Later, in 1963, a new company moved in. The Stacor Equipment Company started using the building. They made furniture, like tables for libraries. This shows how the building changed over time.

A Place of History

The Dickson Works is a very important building. Because of its history, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. This means it's officially recognized as a special place. It helps us remember the past of Scranton and its industries.
