Diego Rodolfo Placente is a former Argentine footballer and current manager. He was born on April 24, 1977. Diego played as a left-back during his career. Today, he is the manager of the Argentina U20 national team.

Diego's Club Football Journey

Diego Placente started his professional football career in 1996. He played for Argentinos Juniors first. In 1997, he moved to a bigger Argentine club, River Plate.

Playing in Europe

In 2001, Diego moved to Europe. He joined the German team Bayer 04 Leverkusen. He played there until 2005. During his time at Leverkusen, he reached the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2002. This is one of the biggest club football tournaments in the world. After Germany, he played for Celta de Vigo in Spain.

Returning to Argentina and France

In 2008, Diego returned to Argentina. He played for San Lorenzo de Almagro. Later that year, he moved to France to play for Bordeaux. He signed a two-year contract with them. After his contract ended, he went back to San Lorenzo. He also played for Nacional in Uruguay before finishing his playing career back at Argentinos Juniors.

Playing for Argentina

Diego Placente also played for his country, Argentina. He made his first appearance for the Argentina national football team in 2001. He played a total of 22 matches for the national team. He also played for the Argentina U-20 team, winning important youth tournaments.
