Dir (princely state) facts for kids
Dir was once a small, independent area in what is now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. Think of it like a mini-country with its own ruler! This special area was called a princely state. It stopped being a separate state in 1969 when it joined Pakistan.
Today, the land that was once Dir (about 5,282 square kilometers) is split into two parts: Upper Dir and Lower Dir. These two areas are now districts within Pakistan.
