Diran facts for kids

About Diran Mountain
Diran is located in the beautiful Karakoram mountain range. This range is known for its many tall peaks. Diran might not be as famous as some other mountains, but it's still very impressive. Its height of 7,266 meters means it's one of the "seven-thousanders" – mountains over 7,000 meters high.
Climbing Diran
The first people to successfully reach the very top of Diran were Rainer Goeschl, Rudolph Pischinger, and Hanns Schell. They made their incredible climb in 1968. Even though reaching the top is not considered extremely difficult for experienced climbers, Diran can be quite dangerous. This is because avalanches (large slides of snow and ice) happen often on its slopes. Climbers need to be very careful and prepared for these risks.
