This old lady had no food left except some very ripe plantains. Normally, she would have thrown them away because they were so soft. But instead, she decided to try something new. She mashed the plantains, added some salt and pepper, and then deep-fried them in palm oil.
She tasted her new creation and loved it! It was so delicious that she decided to make more. She shared her new snack with her neighbours, and they loved it too.

Because of that old lady, we now have Dodo Ikire! It was named after the town where it was first made. This popular snack is mostly sold in the southwestern part of Nigeria. You can often find it in markets or from street vendors.
