Story of Dogsong
Dogsong is an exciting adventure about a 14-year-old Eskimo boy named Russel Susskit. He feels like his village is changing too much. He doesn't like the new sounds of snowmobiles or the modern ways of life. Russel wants to find his own "song," which means finding out who he truly is.
Russel's Wilderness Journey
Russel decides to leave his village. He takes a team of strong sled dogs with him. He travels across huge ice floes, wide-open tundra, and tall mountains. His journey is tough, and he often dreams of a time long ago. These dreams show him adventures that are much like his own.
Meeting Nancy in the Wild
During his travels, Russel finds a young Eskimo girl named Nancy. She is alone and needs help to survive in the harsh wilderness. Russel knows he must take care of both of them. They face many challenges together in the cold, unforgiving land. Russel has to find food and shelter for them both.
