Dolly Varden, Ohio facts for kids
Dolly Varden is a small, unincorporated community located in Clark County, Ohio, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a village. Instead, it's usually managed by the county.
The Story Behind the Name
Dolly Varden was officially established, or platted, in 1872. It's believed that the community got its unique name from a famous character named Dolly Varden. She was a lively and fashionable character in the novel Barnaby Rudge, written by the well-known British author Charles Dickens.
