Dolors Monserdà facts for kids


Dolors Monserdà i Vidal (born in Barcelona in 1845, died in 1919) was a very important Catalan writer. She wrote many different things like poems, stories, plays, and essays. She was also a journalist and wrote for newspapers and magazines.
Her brother, Enric Monserdà i Vidal, was a painter. Her daughter married a famous architect named Josep Puig i Cadafalch.
Dolors Monserdà first wrote in Spanish until 1875. After that, she wrote mostly in the Catalan language. She often took part in the Floral Games, which were poetry contests. She won prizes there in 1878, 1882, and 1891. In 1909, she made history by becoming the first woman to lead one of these poetry contests.
She also wrote for a newspaper called La Renaixença and a magazine named Feminal.
