Her Education and Early Career

Dominique Hulin studied mathematics in Paris. She went to a famous school called the Ecole Normale Supérieure. She studied there from 1978 to 1983. During this time, she worked with Marcel Berger. He was a well-known mathematician.

In 1983, she earned her doctorate degree. Her special research project was called Pinching and Betti numbers. After finishing her studies, she became an assistant professor. She worked at Paris Diderot University from 1983 to 1985.

Becoming a Professor

In 1985, Dominique Hulin became a maître de conferences. This is a type of senior lecturer position in France. She worked at Paris-Sud University. This university later became Paris-Saclay University. In 2019, she was promoted to an even higher level. This was called the "exceptional class" of maîtres de conferences.

Her Famous Textbook

Dominique Hulin is also known for a textbook. She wrote it with two other mathematicians. Their names are Sylvestre Gallot and Jacques Lafontaine. The book is called Riemannian Geometry. It was first published in 1987. A newer, updated version came out in 2004. This textbook is very important for students learning about geometry.
