About Don Mancini's Career
Don Mancini loved horror movies ever since he was a kid. He was inspired by films like Trilogy of Terror and an episode of The Twilight Zone called "Living Doll". He noticed that while there were many "killer doll" stories, no one had made a full movie using amazing robot effects.
When Mancini was a film student at UCLA in the 1980s, he saw how popular Cabbage Patch Kids dolls were. People would even fight to buy them! Mancini's father worked in advertising, so he understood how strong marketing could make people want things. This gave Mancini the idea to write a dark story about how advertising affects kids. This idea became the first Child's Play movie in 1988, which he co-wrote.
Mancini wrote all seven movies in the original Child's Play series. He also helped produce Bride of Chucky and Cult of Chucky. He started directing the movies himself with Seed of Chucky in 2004. He also directed Curse of Chucky (2013) and Cult of Chucky (2017). More recently, he created, wrote, and directed the Chucky TV series.
In 2007, Don Mancini won the EyeGore award for his important work in the horror movie world. Sometimes, he uses the name Kit Dubois for his work. Mancini went to St. Christopher's School in Richmond, Virginia. He also studied at the University of California and Columbia University in New York City.
