Dora Draganova is a talented Bulgarian composer. She was born on January 29, 1946. She has written many different kinds of music.
A Composer's Life
Dora Draganova grew up in Sofia, Bulgaria. Her father, Illya Draganov, was also a composer. So, music was a big part of her life from the start!
She went to the State Academy of Music. There, she learned how to compose music. Her teachers were famous composers like Parashkev Hadjiev and Vesselin Stoyanov.
After finishing her studies in 1972, Dora Draganova became a teacher. She taught piano at a music high school. She also taught harmony at a dance high school. Harmony is about how different musical notes sound good together.
For many years, from 1971 to 1991, she worked on a magazine. This magazine was called Native Song. It was all about music for choirs.
Dora Draganova has won awards for her music. In 1999, she won first prize for her musical play Pippi Long-Stocking. This play was based on the popular book by Astrid Lindgren. Her collection of piano pieces called Children’s Corner also won an award.
