Dora Riedel Seinecke (born in 1906, died in 1982) was a pioneering Chilean architect. She made history in 1930 by becoming the very first woman in Chile to earn a degree in architecture. This was a huge step forward for women in a field mostly dominated by men at the time.

Her Life and Achievements
Dora Riedel was born on March 11, 1906, in Valdivia, a city in Chile. Her parents were from Germany.
Becoming an Architect
In 1925, Dora began her studies at the University of Chile. She worked very hard and on December 9, 1930, she achieved something amazing. Dora Riedel became the first woman in Chile to graduate with an architecture degree. This opened doors for many other women who wanted to become architects.
After graduating, Dora worked for a year at the Chilean Ministry of Public Works. This government department helps build and maintain important public buildings and structures.
Life in Germany
In 1931, Dora traveled to Germany to continue her education. She studied at the University of Stuttgart. While she was there, she met Anton Hammerle, and they later got married.
Dora Riedel Seinecke passed away in 1982.
Honoring Her Legacy
Dora Riedel's important achievement is still remembered today. In 2017, the Colegio de Arquitectos de Chile (which is like the Chilean College of Architects) created a special award in her honor. It's called the Dora Riedel Prize, and it celebrates her pioneering spirit and contributions to architecture.
