A Home for the Braves
The Bourne Braves baseball team started playing at Doran Park in 2006. Before that, they played at other fields since 1988.
Dedication and Lights
In 2007, a special ceremony took place before a Braves game. The new ballpark was officially named "Doran Park." This was done to remember George Doran, Sr., a big baseball fan. People said the park was "the model for the Cape League’s future."
The next year, in 2008, the park got new lights. These lights were good enough for minor league baseball games. The Doran family gave the lights as a gift. Lou Merloni, a former Bourne Brave and Boston Red Sox player, spoke at the lighting event.
