Dorothy A. Atabong (born Ayinke Dorothy Atabong) is a talented actress, writer, and producer from Cameroon, who also holds Canadian citizenship. She is most famous for her work on the film Sound of Tears. This film helped her win several awards, including an Africa Movie Academy Award in 2015.

Dorothy Atabong's Career Journey
Dorothy Atabong has received many good reviews for her acting in theatre plays. Some of these plays include Wedding Band and The Africa Trilogy. The Africa Trilogy was part of big festivals like the Luminato Arts Festival and the Stratford Festival. She also performed in The Overwhelming, a play by The Canadian Stage Company and Studio 180.
Writing and Producing Films
In 2002, Dorothy published a romantic novel called The Princess of Kaya. Later, she turned this book into a movie script. Her script for a full-length movie, Daisy’s Heart, won an award for Best Low Budget Script at the 2011 Female Eye Film Festival in Toronto.
Dorothy also wrote, produced, and starred in a short film called Sound of Tears. This film was first shown at the Montreal World Film Festival. It won the 2015 Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Diaspora Short Film. It also received a Platinum Remi award at the 48th WorldFest Houston Film Festival.

Dorothy Atabong got married in 2008 and has two sons, born in 2011 and 2015. In 2013, she appeared on the CBC Radio show Metro Morning with Matt Galloway. She talked about the serious issue of family violence against women. She also discussed her film Sound Of Tears for the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women on December 6, 2013.
