Dorothy "Dottie" Peoples is a famous American gospel singer. She was born in Dayton, Ohio. After finishing high school, Dottie traveled and performed with another gospel music pioneer, Dorothy Norwood. Dorothy Norwood was part of a group called the Caravans.
Dottie also spent some time singing jazz. In 1979, she moved to Atlanta. There, she went back to her gospel music roots. People often call her the "Songbird of the South" because of her beautiful voice.
