Brian Douglas Fielder (born June 6, 1946 – died June 26, 2019) was a British actor. He was known professionally as Douglas Fielding. Many people remember him for playing Sergeant Alec Quilley in the police TV show Z-Cars from 1969 to 1978. He also played the first regular policeman, Roy Quick, in the BBC soap opera EastEnders from 1985 to 1986.

Starting Out in Acting

Douglas Fielding trained to be an actor for three years. He attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art from 1965 to 1968. This school helped him learn the skills needed for acting.

He first appeared on television in 1968. He played a character called Young Hodge in an episode of Mystery and Imagination.

Famous TV Roles

Douglas Fielding became well-known for playing police officers. From 1969 to 1978, he was Sergeant Alec Quilley in Z-Cars. This was a popular TV drama about police work.

Later, he joined another very famous show, EastEnders. He played Roy Quick, who was also a policeman. He was on EastEnders from 1985 to 1986. In 2000, he returned to the show briefly. He played a private investigator named Will.

Other Acting Work

Douglas Fielding appeared in many other successful television shows. These included Softly, Softly, Callan, Blake's 7, Angels, Juliet Bravo, The Bill, ChuckleVision, Family Affairs, and Doctors.

He also acted in a video game called Privateer 2: The Darkening in 1996. He appeared in films too, such as the drama Holding On (1997) and Hooligan Legacy (2016).

In 2018, it was announced that Douglas Fielding would be a guest star in Series 21 of the show Silent Witness.

Later Life

Douglas Fielding passed away on June 26, 2019. He was 73 years old.
