Doyle Lane (1925–2002) was an amazing African-American artist. He was known for his unique work with clay. His art included delicate vases, ceramic sculptures, and even large clay paintings and mosaics.
Lane had his own art studio in the El Sereno area of East Los Angeles. He showed his art in important galleries like Brockman Gallery and Ankrum Gallery. These places were key centers for African-American art in Los Angeles during the mid-1900s.

Early Life and Education
Doyle Lane was born in New Orleans. He moved to Los Angeles in the early 1950s. He studied art at Los Angeles City College and later at the University of Southern California.
When he started his career, he worked with glazes (special coatings for pottery) for a company. Later, he became a full-time studio ceramist. This meant he made his living by creating beautiful art with clay.
