Dragiša Pešić (born 8 August 1954 – died 8 September 2016) was an important politician from Yugoslavia. He served as the second-to-last Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

About Dragiša Pešić
Dragiša Pešić was born in Danilovgrad on August 8, 1954. He studied economics at the University of Sarajevo and finished his studies in 1978.
Early Career in Politics
Pešić started his political career in the city of Podgorica. He was the head of the executive committee for the Podgorica Municipality. This role is similar to being the mayor's chief of staff.
He also became a member of the Chamber of Citizens. This was a part of the Yugoslav Federal Assembly.
Serving as Finance Minister
In 1998, Dragiša Pešić took on a big role. He became the Finance Minister of Yugoslavia. He worked under two different Prime Ministers during this time. These were Momir Bulatović and Zoran Žižić. As Finance Minister, he was in charge of the country's money matters.
Becoming Prime Minister
Dragiša Pešić became the Prime Minister of Yugoslavia on July 24, 2001. He took over after the previous Prime Minister, Zoran Žižić, left his position. As Prime Minister, he was the head of the government.
Later Life and Legacy
In December 2007, Pešić joined the Senate of the State Audit Institution (DRI) in Montenegro. This institution helps to check how the government spends money.
Dragiša Pešić passed away on September 8, 2016, when he was 62 years old. He was buried two days later in the village of Frutak, near his hometown of Danilovgrad.
