Drakesburg, Ohio facts for kids
Drakesburg is a small place in Portage County, Ohio. It is called an "unincorporated community." This means it is a group of homes and businesses that do not have their own local government, like a city or a village. Instead, it is part of a larger area called Freedom Township. Drakesburg is found where Nichols Road meets Ohio State Routes 303 and 88.
The Story of Drakesburg's Name
Drakesburg got its name from a man named Orsamus Drake. He owned a popular tavern in the area a long time ago. Many towns and communities get their names from important people who lived there or from special places, just like Drakesburg.
