Dryden Historic District (San Diego) facts for kids
The North Park Dryden Historic District is a special neighborhood in San Diego, California. It's found along 28th and Pershing Streets, between Landis Street and Upas Street. This area is famous for its beautiful old homes built in the 1920s and 1930s. Many of these houses are Craftsman Bungalows or Spanish Colonial Revival style. A lot of them were designed by a famous builder named David Owen Dryden.
A Special Place in History
On June 23, 2011, a group called the San Diego Historical Resources Board (HRB) officially recognized this area. They decided it was a "historic district." This means the neighborhood is important to the city's past. Out of 136 homes in the district, 100 were chosen as having special historic value.
The HRB also honored another builder, Edward F Bryans. He built 15 of the homes in this district. He was given the special title of "Master Builder" because of his important work.
