The Story of Dudley: How It Began
Dudley started to grow in 1871. This was when a railroad line reached the area. The railroad helped connect Dudley to other places.
A post office opened in Dudley in 1872. People could send and receive mail there. It stayed open for many years, until 1953. The area was officially planned out in 1877. This planning is called "platting." It means they drew maps for streets and building lots. The community was named after a family. The Dudley family were some of the first people to settle there.
