The Dudley Tower, also known as First Wausau Tower, is a tall building in downtown Wausau, Wisconsin. It stands proudly on the shore of the Wisconsin River. This building is a major part of the Wausau city skyline. It is also the tallest office building in Wisconsin, except for those in Milwaukee.
Discovering Dudley Tower
The Dudley Tower is home to several important companies. These include Ruder Ware, WoodTrust, CGI, and Miron Construction. These businesses use the tower for their offices.
The building was designed by an architect company called Performa, Inc. They wanted to create a very modern office building. It has special features that go beyond normal building rules. For example, it has advanced security systems. It also has great heating and cooling. There is even a special parking area for executives.
About 500 people can work in the offices at Dudley Tower. The building also hosts the "Dudley Tower Skycam." This is a special camera from WAOW-TV that shows views of the city.
Building the Tower
The construction of Dudley Tower started in the spring of 2006. It was finished in July 2007. Miron Construction was the main company that built it. They even made a cool time-lapse video. This video shows how the building was put together step by step.
Awards and Recognition
Dudley Tower has won two special awards. In 2007, it received "The Daily Reporter - Top Projects in Wisconsin" award. It also won the "WRMCA Concrete Design Award" in the same year. These awards show that the building is well-designed and built.
