Dulcita Lynn Lieggi Francisco (born on May 19, 1989, in Santo Domingo) is a Dominican actress, model, and beauty queen. She first placed as the first runner-up in the Miss Dominican Republic 2012 contest. However, the original winner, Carola Durán, later lost her title. Because of this, Dulcita Lieggi was then given the crown. After becoming Miss Dominican Republic, she represented her country at the Miss Universe 2012 pageant.
Early Life
Dulcita Lieggi was born in Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic. Her father came from a town called Mola di Bari in Southern Italy. Her mother was from Puerto Plata, which is in the northern part of the Dominican Republic.
Miss Dominican Republic and Miss Universe
Dulcita Lieggi took part in the Miss Dominican Republic 2012 beauty contest. She represented the Distrito Nacional, which is the capital district. There were 37 young women competing from all over the Dominican Republic. The contest was shown live from Santo Domingo on April 17, 2012.
Dulcita finished as the first runner-up. This meant she earned the right to represent the Dominican Republic in another contest called Miss Continente Americano 2012. However, just one week after the Miss Dominican Republic contest, on April 24, 2012, the original winner, Carola Durán, was no longer able to hold the title because of a rule.
Because of this, Dulcita Lieggi became the new Miss Dominican Republic 2012. She then went on to compete in the Miss Universe 2012 pageant. This big international contest was held in Las Vegas, USA. Dulcita did her best, but she did not make it into the top 16 finalists at Miss Universe.
