History of Duncansville
The town of Duncansville started in 1830. A man named Samuel Duncan bought land on one side of a stream and decided to create a town there. He named it Duncansville. Around the same time, another man named Jacob Walters started his own settlement on the other side of the stream, calling it Walterstown.
There was some confusion and friendly competition between the two settlements. So, Duncan and Walters decided to pick one name for both places. They made it a big celebration! Everyone gathered at the wooden bridge between the two towns. They flipped a coin, and Samuel Duncan's name won. That's how both communities became known as Duncansville.
