Discover the History of Duns FC
There used to be an older team also called Duns F.C. This team played at a higher level of football in Scotland. They were part of the East of Scotland League for many years.
The Duns club you see today is like the new version of that old team. People sometimes call them Duns AFC or Duns Ams. They proudly list seven wins of the Border Cup. This shows how successful the club has been over different periods.
Duns FC in the Scottish Cup
The Duns team played in the main Scottish Cup competition 21 times! This is a big deal for a club. One time, they even played a match against Celtic at their famous stadium, Parkhead.
In the 1956–57 cup season, Duns had an amazing game. They won 11–1 against Edinburgh University in the first round. However, they lost to Eyemouth United in the next round.
Duns played in the East of Scotland League for a long time. They joined when the league grew in 1928–29. They kept playing there until the end of the 1967–68 season. After that, they had a few short times in the league. Their last appearance was in the 1975–76 season.
Modern Duns FC Success
The current Duns team has also been very successful. They have won the A League of the Border AFL six times. Four of these championships were won when the team was known as Duns Legion.
