Duvet facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

A duvet is a soft, flat bag filled with warm materials like feathers or special man-made fibres. It's used on a bed just like a blanket to keep you warm and cozy at night. Duvets are popular because they are light, comfortable, and easy to use.

How Warm is a Duvet? (Tog Ratings)

Duvets have a special number called a tog rating that tells you how warm they are. Think of it like a warmth scale! The higher the tog number, the warmer the duvet will feel. For example, a duvet with a 13.5 tog rating is very warm, perfect for cold winter nights. Lighter togs, like 4.5, are better for summer.

Duvets for All Seasons

Some duvets are designed to be used all year round. These are called all-season duvets. They usually come as two separate duvets that you can use together or apart. For instance, you might get a lighter 4.5 tog duvet for warmer weather and a 9.5 tog duvet for cooler times. When it's really cold, you can snap or button them together to make one super-warm duvet!
