Dwight E. Davis (born October 28, 1949) is a retired American professional basketball player. He was a talented forward who played in the NBA. After a great college career, he was picked early in the 1972 NBA draft.
Davis was known by the nickname "Double D" during his five seasons in the NBA. He played for two different teams.

Dwight Davis's College Basketball Journey
Dwight Davis went to Worthing High School in Houston, Texas. After high school, he joined the Houston Cougars college team. He was recruited by the famous Coach Guy Lewis.
Sophomore Season Success
In his second year (1969–1970), Davis was a key player for Houston. He scored nearly 20 points and grabbed over 10 rebounds per game. His team finished with a strong record of 25 wins and 5 losses. They even made it to the 1970 NCAA University Division basketball tournament.
Junior Year Highlights
During the 1970–1971 season, Davis continued to shine. He averaged over 20 points and 12 rebounds. The Cougars had another excellent season, finishing 22–7. In the 1971 NCAA University Division basketball tournament, Davis scored 30 points in one game. He helped his team win their first-round match.
Senior Year and Beyond
As a senior in 1971–1972, Davis had his best college season. He averaged 24.4 points and 11.7 rebounds. Houston again played in the NCAA Tournament. Davis earned a college degree from the University of Houston. He is also a member of the Bauer Business School Circle of Honor.

In 1972, Dwight Davis was a top pick in the 1972 NBA draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers chose him as the 3rd player overall.
Rookie Year Achievements
