Location of Dyrnæs in the Eastern Settlement.
Dyrnæs was an old village built by the Norsemen in Greenland. It was part of the Eastern Settlement, which was a group of Norse communities. You could find Dyrnæs north of where the town of Narsaq is today.
History of Dyrnæs
Dyrnæs was one of the biggest areas in Norse Greenland. This is according to a person named Ívar Bárðarson. He wrote about the Norse settlements.
The area had a church and many farms. It likely covered the whole western part of the Narsaq peninsula. In 1932, archaeologists found the old church ruins. This discovery helped us learn more about Dyrnæs.
