Elisa Stilson Magagna (born February 2, 1983) is an American writer, editor, and publisher. She is best known by her pen name, EC Stilson. She also wrote blog posts using the name Elisabeth Hirsch. Stilson helped start Wayman Publishing and Literati Publications. She is also known for writing true stories about her life, called memoirs. She often gives talks across the United States.
About EC Stilson
Elisa Stilson went to Brighton High School. She finished high school earlier than most students. After school, she traveled and later married Cade Hirsch Morris. They had children together. During a difficult time in her life, Stilson wrote her first memoir, called The Golden Sky.
In 2005, Stilson decided to go back to school. She earned her associate degree from Western International University. Over the next ten years, she wrote seven more novels. She used her pen name, EC Stilson, for these books. She also earned her bachelor's degree from Western Governors University.
In 2015, Stilson married Michael Magagna. He used to host a radio show called Utah After Hours. They moved to Idaho. In 2018, Stilson was diagnosed with a serious illness. In 2020, doctors said she might only have two years to live.
While facing this challenge, Stilson started writing on her blog again. Her blog, "Crazy Life of a Writing Mom," became very popular. It reached over one million views. Stilson and her family have been working on her "bucket list" together. This list includes exciting things she wants to do. Some of these adventures include skydiving and visiting Italy. She even sang the "Star-Spangled Banner" at a semi-pro baseball game.
Her Writing and Business
In 2011, Stilson started her blog, Crazy Life of a Writing Mom. This blog is a type of Mommyblogs. She first published it under the name Elisabeth Hirsch. Her goal was to share a funny or interesting moment every day for a whole year.
In 2011, Stilson also started a company called Wayman Publishing. By 2012, five of the books published by her company became bestsellers on Amazon. Many of these books were popular memoirs written by women. Wayman Publishing closed down in 2014.
Between 2011 and 2013, several of Stilson's own books were published. These included The Sword of Senack and How to Lose a Tooth. She also released three memoirs as part of The Golden Sky series.
In 2020 and 2021, Stilson wrote two more memoirs. These books were about her experiences battling her illness. They are titled Two More Years and Ring the Bell.
