Early Life and Challenges
EC Stilson went to Brighton High School in Utah. She finished high school early and then traveled to Hawaii. There, she played the violin and met Cade Hirsch Morris, a guitar player.
They later returned to Utah, got married, and had children. In 2001, her father became ill with cancer. In 2003, her second child, a boy, passed away due to health problems when he was two and a half months old. Around this time, her marriage also faced difficulties.
Writing and Education
During these challenging years, from 2001 to 2003, Stilson wrote her first memoir. A memoir is a book about a person's own life experiences. Her first memoir was called The Golden Sky.
In 2005, to help her cope with stress, Stilson went back to school. She earned her associate degree from Western International University. Over the next ten years, she wrote seven more novels. She also earned her bachelor's degree from Western Governors University.
Later Life and Health Journey
In 2015, Stilson married Michael Magagna. He used to host a radio show called Utah After Hours. They moved to Idaho, where Stilson was diagnosed with a type of cancer in 2018.
By 2020, her cancer had become more serious. Doctors thought she might only have two more years to live. While fighting her illness, Stilson started blogging again. Her blog, "Crazy Life of a Writing Mom," became very popular, reaching one million views.
She and her family began to do things on her "bucket list." A bucket list is a list of things someone wants to do before a certain time. Some of these adventures included skydiving and visiting Italy. She even sang the "Star-Spangled Banner" at a semi-pro baseball game.

Starting a Blog
In 2011, EC Stilson started a blog called Crazy Life of a Writing Mom. This blog was a type of "Mommyblog," which are blogs written by mothers. She first published it under the name Elisabeth Hirsch.
Her goal for the blog was to write one funny, embarrassing, or surprising moment every day for a whole year.
Wayman Publishing
In 2011, Stilson also started her own company called Wayman Publishing. This company published books. By 2012, five of the books published by Wayman Publishing became bestsellers on Amazon. Many of these were in popular categories, like women's memoirs.
Wayman Publishing closed down in the fall of 2014.
Published Books
From 2011 to 2013, several of Stilson's books were published. These included The Sword of Senack and How to Lose a Tooth. She also published three memoirs in The Golden Sky series.
More recently, in 2020 and 2021, Stilson wrote two more memoirs. These books were about her experiences battling cancer. They are titled Two More Years and Ring the Bell.
