The Earl of Norbury is a special title in the Peerage of Ireland. This means it's a noble rank given in Ireland, like being a Duke or a Baron. The title comes from the County of Tipperary in Ireland.

The title was created in 1827 for an important Irish judge and politician named John Toler. He was also given the title Viscount Glandine at the same time. These titles were given to him when he retired from his job as the Chief Justice of the Common Pleas in Ireland. This was a very high legal position.

Interestingly, these titles had a special rule for who would inherit them. Instead of going to his oldest son, Daniel, they were set up to go to his second son, Hector. This was because Daniel was unable to inherit due to health reasons. John Toler already had another title, Baron Norbury, which he received in 1800. His wife, Grace Toler, also had her own title, Baroness Norwood, which she received in 1797.

When John Toler, the 1st Earl, passed away in 1831, his oldest son Daniel inherited the Baron Norbury title. However, his second son, Hector, inherited the Earldom and Viscountcy as planned. A year later, Hector also inherited the two Baron titles from his older brother Daniel. Hector had added the surname Graham to his name in 1825.
